Working At Heights

 

WORKING AT HEIGHTS COURSE FOR CONSTRUCTION


Guru Training Centres Canada has partnered with 3M Training to provide their CPO Approved Working At Heights programs in Ontario. 

​

​Course Description

This full-day program is designed for workers in the Ontario construction industry who must complete the required training as outlined in Ontario Regulation 213/91 (Construction Projects). The 3M program is approved by the Chief Prevention Officer and meets the requirements of the Working at Heights Training Standard. This program will provide students with necessary knowledge to safely perform their duties at heights. 


The training program consists of a combination of theory and practical modules, which will educate students on the concepts and principles of fall safety. Upon completion of the program, students will be prepared to identify on-site fall hazards, the system options available for fall safety, and the proper set-up and usage of these systems. 


Course Overview

  • Fall dynamics & hazard identification 
  • Rights & responsibilities related to working at heights  
  • Ladder safety 
  • Legislative requirements for worker fall safety 
  • Fall hazard control & system options 
  • Personal fall protection components 
  • Rescue requirements & planning 
  • Equipment care principles

​Working at Heights Basic Theory Module – (3-4 hours)

​The Working at Heights Basic Theory module contains the following:

​

  • Rights and responsibilities related to working at heights under the
    Occupational Health and Safety Act in Ontario
  • General hazard recognition for working at heights,
  • Hierarchy of controls,
  • Safety procedures for warning methods and physical barriers,
  • Safety procedures for ladders and similar equipment; and
  • An introduction to personal fall protection equipment.

Working at Heights Practical Equipment Module – (3-4 hours)

The Working at Heights Practical Equipment module contains the following:

​

  • Barriers and safety nets
  • Personal fall protection equipment,
  • Anchor points,
  • Work positioning systems, work access and platforms; and
  • Rescue planning
